Multiple operating frequency selections for reconfigurable antenna design by SM based optimisation

Abstract: In surrogate‐based optimisation methods, computationally burden yet precise fine model is utilised alongside less accurate however quick coarse model to decrease the general computational exertion. Surrogate‐based optimisation methods are firstly applied to reconfigurable antenna design problems in this work. Space mapping (SM) with inverse difference method enables productive procedure to decrease computational exertion while enhancing the convergence. Inverse difference mapping is constituted by difference k… Show more

“…A practically important remark is concerning the selection of random samples for yield optimisation step (10). Yield estimation using MC is characterised by certain variance, which means that drawing a new set of random samples for each evaluation of Y s (x; x (i) } will manifest itself as numerical noise.…”

“…However, the bottleneck is the high cost of EM simulations which may translate into the unacceptable computational overhead of the optimisation process. Design speedup can be obtained by using surrogate-assisted approaches involving data-driven models [6][7][8] as well as physicsbased surrogates [9,10], or adjoint sensitivities [11,12].…”

“…The physics‐based models are considerably less affected by the curse of dimensionality, however, at the expense of generality. Popular techniques include space mapping, as well as response correction techniques . Surrogate‐based optimization may lead to a significant computational speedup provided that the surrogate model is significantly faster than the fine model, and the two models are sufficiently well correlated.…”
