Multiscale surface modified magneto-mechano-triboelectric nanogenerator enabled by eco-friendly NaCl imprinting stamp for self-powered IoT applications

Abstract: This work reports a multiscale micro- and nano-structured magneto-mechano-triboelectric nanogenerator (MMTENG) enabled by an eco-friendly NaCl particle imprinting process to operate an internet of thing (IoT) sensor.

“…Many studies about physical surface modifications have been conducted to improve the output of TENG devices. , Figure (a) shows TENGs with a sandpaper-assisted micropattern on its surface, which easily and cost-effectively enlarged the surface contact area, thus enhancing output performance. A morphology-controllable wrinkled micro/nano hierarchical structure was also developed by integrating multiscale poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) architectures (Figure (b)) .…”

“…Multistimulus ME energy harvesting device is an important direction for future development. A ME energy harvesting device can be combined with one or more harvesting units, such as triboelectric nanogenerators, 212,213 piezoelectric nanogenerators, 214 and electromagnetic generators. Hybridizing energy harvesters can be developed to harvest power from multiple energy sources, including magnetic fields, vibrations, light, and thermal gradient energy, individually or simultaneously.…”

“…27,34 They can harvest electric energy from surrounding mechanical energy (wind, surrounding vibration, human movement, and engine shaking) and are promising for applications involving magneto-mechano-triboelectric nanogenerators (MMTENGs). 33,35–40 The triboelectric effect is a charge transfer phenomenon that is achieved by contact electrification between two different materials with distinct tribo-polarities. 41–46 To enhance the output performance of TENGs, various research groups focused on the underlying mechanism in contact electrification and contact surface morphology of friction materials.…”
