Multispecies and high-spatiotemporal-resolution database of vehicular emissions in Brazil

Abstract: Abstract. In this article, we present the BRAzilian Vehicular Emissions inventory Software (BRAVES) database, a multispecies and high-spatiotemporal-resolution database of vehicular emissions in Brazil. We provide this database using spatial disaggregation based on road density, temporal disaggregation using vehicular flow profiles, and chemical speciation based on local studies and the SPECIATE 5.1 database from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA). Our BRAVES database provides hourly an… Show more

“…BRAIN uses the multispecies and high-spatiotemporalresolution database of vehicular emissions from the Brazilian Vehicular Emission Inventory Software (BRAVES) (Hoinaski et al, 2022;Vasques and Hoinaski, 2021). The BRAVES database disaggregates municipality-aggregated emissions using the road density approach and temporal disaggregation based on vehicular flow profiles.…”

“…BRAIN uses the multispecies and high-spatiotemporal-resolution database vehicular emissions from Brazilian Vehicular Emission Inventory Software -BRAVES (Hoinaski et al, 2022;Vasques and Hoinaski, 2021). BRAVES database disaggregates municipality aggregated emissions using the road density approach and temporal disaggregation based on 90 vehicular flow profiles.…”

“…Additionally, some tools have been locally developed to estimate and disaggregate emissions, particularly in the road transport sector, i.e., the Disaggregation of on-ROad Vehicle Emissions algorithm -DROVE (González et al, 2020). Similar efforts have been made in Brazil, with the BRAzilian Vehicular Emissions inventory Software -BRAVES (Hoinaski et al, 2022;Vasques and Hoinaski, 2021), which has higher temporal, spatial, and chemical resolution than EDGAR. Also, the Vehicular Emissions Inventories package -VEIN (Ibarra-Espinosa et al, 2018), which provides vehicular emission outputs to be used in the WRF-Chem model.…”
