Muricauda oceani sp. nov., isolated from the East Pacific Ocean

Abstract: A Gram-stain-negative bacterium, designated strain 501str8T, was isolated from a sediment sample collected from the East Pacific Ocean. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain 501str8T belonged to the genus Mu… Show more

“…The following eight strains were used as reference strains for comparative experiments. Muricauda antarctica Ar-22 T was available from our lab, Muricauda ruestringensis DSM 13258 T was obtained from the Deutsche Sammlung von Mikroorganismen und Zellkulturen GmbH, Muricauda taeanensis JCM 17757 T and Muricauda aquimarina JCM 11811 T were obtained from the Japan Collection of Microorganisms, Muricauda beolgyonensis KCTC 23501 T and Muricauda lutimaris KCTC 22173 T were obtained from the Korean Collection for Type Culture, and Muricauda oceani 501str8 T and Muricauda hadalis MT-229 T were obtained from Chen's [17] and Fang’s labs [18], respectively. All strains were cultured in marine broth 2216 (MB; BD) or on MA at 30 °C and preserved at −80 °C with 25% (v/v) glycerol for long-term storage.…”

“…Different from the G+C content (50.3 mol%) determined by HPLC [5], the G+C content of M. lutea MCCC 1K03195 T calculated from the draft genome sequence was 35.0 %. Compared to the genomic G+C contents of the genus Muricauda (ranging from 41 to 51 mol%) [23], the G+C content of M. lutea MCCC 1K03195 T is closer to those of ASW18 T (37.3 %) and C. radicis MCCC 1A06690 T (37.1 %). The ANI, isDDH and AAI values between strain ASW18 T and C. radicis MCCC 1A06690 T were 79.6%, 23.1% and 82.4 %; between strain ASW18 T and M. lutea MCCC 1K03195 T were 73.1 %, 19.9% and 75.3 %; and between C. radicis MCCC 1A06690 T and M. lutea MCCC 1K03195 T were 72.2 %, 18.4% and 74.8 %.…”
