Nano-architecture of CaO/Ag-chitosan nanocomposite by sol gel process: formation and characterization

Abstract: Functionalize nano-architecture CaO/Ag-chitosan bio-nanoparticles were prepared by the acetic acid sol-gel process and were loaded into the chitosan nanocomposite. The so prepared bioactive nano-CaO/Ag-chitosan nanocomposite was characterized using XRD, TEM, FE-SEM, optical, and the antimicrobial activity was evaluated. The antibacterial evaluations implied that chitosan, nano-CaO, and nano-CaO/Ag-chitosan are exhibited subtle antimicrobial activities against both Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) microbes… Show more

“…Results are shown in Table 2. The small pore size of all the beads was comparable to the values for chitosan beads reported in the literature [38] or slightly higher [39]. However, the pore volume and the BET surface area were notably increased in the ST chitosan beads: six-fold in the ST-un-Ch beads and 12-fold in the ST-Ch-DES beads, taking the corresponding untreated beads as reference, respectively.…”

“…Figure 4 gives the full FTIR range spectra of PPFe and PPFe doped with 3, 7 ZnO magnetic nanocomposites. At a larger wavenumber, bands connected with OH (around 3450 cm −1 ), CH and OH (2849 up to 3125 cm −1 ), and CH 3 (2856 cm −1 ) vibrations were perceived [25,26].…”

“…In this work, due to numerous substantial advantages, the sol–gel route has been successfully used in the development of silica magnesium zirconium copper nanoceramic suited for various applications 17 . Sol–gel methods are favored for the performance of several technological operations under lower and milder conditions with higher stability 18 21 . Sol–gel silicate-based nanoceramics have attracted broad interest owing to their excellent structural and stability, low-cost, and environmentally saving, supporting these silicates for an extensive variety of applications 22 , 23 .…”
