“…The FTIR spectrum of pure PVA shows absorption peaks at about 3298 cm −1 , from O–H stretching due to the strong hydrogen bond of both intramolecular and intermolecular type, at 1093 and 1420 cm −1 related to C–O and C–H bonds and the vibrational bands between 2936 and 3014 cm −1 related to the stretching of C–H. The FTIR spectrum of the PVA/chitosan blended film represents a broad absorption band in the range 3306–2938 cm − 1 assigned to stretching vibrations of the primary amine and hydroxyl groups (NH 2 and OH), and a sharp peak at 1420 cm −1 indicates the presence of carboxylic acid in the polymer . The presence of the carboxylic dimer was due to the acetic acid used for dissolving the chitosan.…”
