Nanocomposite Zr 2 S 3 ‐BaS‐Cr 2 S 3 ternary‐metal chalcogenide: An impressive supercapacitor electrode and environmental remediant of toxic pollutants

Abstract: Summary Ternary metal sulphide Zr2S3‐BaS‐Cr2S3 thin film was fabricated through physical vapour deposition and characterized. A mixed morphology with flakes and rice grains‐like particles was observed in the material. The average crystallite size of the nanocomposite was 21.8 nm as determined through X‐ray diffraction (XRD). Band gap energy of 3.7 eV was observed for the nanocomposite. Thin film was explored for energy storage potential as supercapacitor electrode by electrochemical investigation through cycli… Show more

“…The photocatalytic investigation of thin film was done following the experimental setup reported by Habibi and Parhizkar [35] in which they utilised thin film attached at the base of a petri plate filled with the contaminant mixture for degradation. The experimental set up has been previously explained in published literature [18]. Periodic extraction of sample (1 mL) was done from the assembly followed by analysis through UV-visible spectrophotometry with the degradation percentage assessed by the degree of peak height of absorbance of the contaminant.…”

“…The metal chalcogenides are not only explored in energy storage, photovoltaics, solar cells, etc. but are also extensively used in the photocatalytic environmental remediation to remove the toxic contaminants from various water bodies [17,18]. Metal chalcogenides are imperative for the technological advancements as their properties are continuously improving.…”

“…A two-neck flask was used for the dissolution of KOH in solvent ethanol for the preparation of ligand diethyl dithiocarbamate. [38,39] The mixture was stirred continuously along with the addition of diethyl amine for a duration of 20 minutes. The apparatus was placed in cold bath with the addition of carbon disulphide with continuous stirring for about three hours.…”
