Nanoscale Data Recording on an Organic Monolayer Film

Abstract: The electrochemical measurements were conducted using a three-electrode cell at 25 C. A Pt wire and an Ag/AgCl (in saturated KCl) were used as the counter and reference electrodes, respectively. The carbon working electrode was polished with 1, 0.3, and 0.05 lm Al 2 O 3 paste, and washed ultrasonically in Millipore water (18 MX cm). The working electrode was brushed with a catalyst ink as described previously [14]. Solutions of 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 and 2.0 M CH 3 OH in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 were stirred constantly and purg… Show more

“…Element zinc is one of the most highly valuable elements for human beings. Its oxide, ZnO, is bio-safe and biocompatible and it can be directly used for biomedical applications without coating. Since Yang 3 and co-workers reported on ZnO nanowire array nanolasers in 2001, synthesis and assembly of ZnO nanostructures, such as nanowires, nanobelts, and nanotubes, have been widely explored and many methods relying on vapor phase approaches and chemical solution process have been developed. For example, well-aligned ZnO nanowire arrays were fabricated by using several different methods, such as template-assisted methods, vapor transport and condensation methods, , metal−organic source vapor methods, laser ablation methods, and solution processes …”

“…Shape-controlled synthesis of CdSe nanorods , and template-assisted synthesis of CdSe nanowires and nanotubes have been demonstrated through electrochemical and chemical approaches. Two-dimensional arrays of CdSe pillars have been fabricated using e-beam lithography . These nanowire and nanotubes are composed of nanosize grains, and they are polycrystalline in nature; thus, the grain boundary scattering could greatly affect the optoelectronic performance.…”

“…For resistive type memory materials, electron donor‐acceptor (D‐A) polymers are thought to be a suitable one because charge transfer (CT) between the D and A moieties can give rise to a high conductive state 3. Several classes of D‐A polymers have been reported, including functional polyimides (PIs),6–21 conjugated polymers,22–26 polymers with pendant conjugated D/A moieties,27–31 oligomers,32–41 polymer‐graphene complexes,42–45 polymer/fullerene blends,46, 47 and organic molecules blended with nanoparticles 48–50…”
