Nanosilver and its Medical Implications

Abstract: Nanosciences along with the emergence of nanobiotechnolgy and nanomedicine in the last few decades provided a number of opportunities for exploring the bactericidal and fungicidal activities of metal nanoparticles. In the present scenario silver in the form of nanoparticles are playing a major role in the field of Nanotechnology and Nano medicine, their unique size dependent properties make them superior and indispensable. The use of nanotechnology in the field of medicine could revolutionize the way we detect… Show more

“…The Nanogold-Nanosilver combination can be used as a drug delivery system that will increase the absorption of essential nutrients for the human body [15]. Nanoparticles in gold and silver have the efficiency of increasing the solubility of water-insoluble drugs, accelerating the reaction rate, increasing the half-life of drugs by reducing immunogenicity and so on [23].…”

“…The system working on the board of International Space Station is a good example [9,11]. Moreover, the fabrication of this metal coating on the surface of medical devices or pieces of furniture, and also incorporation of Ag nanoparticles to the building and textile materials, influences the reduction of the hospital-related infections [12][13][14]. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are also component of many health and cosmetic products due to their antimicrobial activity and deodorizing properties [15,16].…”
