It has been shown that the environment can determine the outcome of work that is carried out in it. Several studies have confirmed that an environment with natural elements can have beneficial effects on people's physical and psychological health and also improve their creativity. However, little research has addressed this effect on the creativity of design engineers within the specific context of processes involving the design of new products. The main purpose of this paper is to determine whether product design proposals developed in environments containing natural elements show higher creativity factors/parameters/values than those obtained in other environments. The results will also be compared according to whether the natural environment is real or simulated. To this end, an experiment was conducted in which designers in the final phase of their training worked in different environments to develop design concepts, which were then evaluated according to four creativity parameters. The analysis of the results suggests that environments that include natural elements, whether real or artificial, favour the creativity of the conceptual proposals for new products to a greater extent than environments without any natural elements. The conclusions of this research can help civil engineers and architects redesign design studios and workspaces, in order to improve the creativity of design engineers and the originality of their work.

The dulang module is a key measurement system in the construction of Palembang limas house, with a length specification of six dulang per bengkilas, each containing a dish for eight people. A smaller dulang module is also found in Malay standard houses in Malaysia to determine the size of the porch, so than the question arises as to why dulang is used as a measurement base for these two types of Malay houses. This paper presents a number of factors that allow the dulang module to emerge as a porch/bengkilas measurement system. This research uses the PESTLE (Political, Economic, Sociological, Technological, Legal, Environmental) framework as a base for exploration of related interdisciplinary literature. It was found that open culture, maritime economics, collectivism, house technology without nails and metals, Islamic teachings on cleanliness, alms, norms of egalitarianism, wood supply, and windy environment are the factors that encourage the use of the eight-person dulang module as the length measurement system of bengkilas in Palembang limas house.

Drawing from history until this current time, numerous fields of study has created designs and offer clarifications stimulated by nature. The concept of metaphor applied in interior design has attracted critics, theoreticians as well as those who are experts in the field of interior design. The use of metaphor can assist in redefining problems and facilitating in assisting solutions in interior design. Furthermore, it can serve as a research concept especially in grasping novel bathrooms designs, which there are very little studies on how nature-based metaphors can inspire different concepts for bathroom. From here, the problem of research was determined by studying how nature-based metaphors were used to generate different concepts and ideas for modern baths. The aim further seeks to determine the types of metaphors obtained from nature in the design of bathroom. For the benefit of achieving a detailed result, the methodology of this study adopted a qualitative multiple case study, and scope of limited to modern bathroom interior design. Research is based on information provided by catalogues and the websites of the most predominant companies competent in the design of bathrooms, which includes a wide variety of famous designers, and conclusions are then drawn by analyzing the data documented in these forms. This paper identifying six key indicators drawn from previous studies. The research has reached the pivotal role of metaphor usage as a design strategy for modern Bathroom Interiors. Where the metaphor ranged between form to the senses and the general atmosphere naturally inspired.
