Near-field radiofrequency electromagnetic exposure assessment

Abstract: Personal wireless telecommunication devices, such as radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic field (EMF) sources operated in vicinity of human body, have possible adverse health effects. Therefore, the correct EMF assessment is necessary in their near field. According to international near-field measurement criteria, the specific absorption rate (SAR) is used for absorbed energy distribution assessment in tissue simulating liquid phantoms. The aim of this investigation is to validate the relationship between the H… Show more

“…This uncertainty is mainly caused by a discrepancy between the measured personal exposure and the actually induced personal exposure during a-UL. An explanation for this measurement uncertainty can be found in the difference in location where the exposure is measured (location of the PEM) and where the exposure is induced (location on the human body near the user device (Rubtsova et al 2015)). An alternative technique to register a-UL exposure is the use of personal diaries.…”

“…The small size antennas in medical applications are suited for use in and around human bodies. There are multiple antenna approaches [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] [ 4 ] for the E/H linearity within the human body, while lacks the portable size feature that enables integrating them around the human tissue sizes. The rapid development in devices that emit Radio Frequency Electromagnetic Fields (RF-EMF) has sparked a growing interest in their interaction with biological systems and their beneficial effects on human health.…”
