“…Additionally, it must also be emphasized that, IR spectroscopic methods can not only be used for rapid mycotoxin analysis of agricultural bulk samples or to sort kernels, but also to study the nature of the fungal infection. Several authors reported a clear link between fungi-infected samples and shifts in the corresponding IR spectra (Dachoupakan Sirisomboon et al, 2013;Fernández-Ibañez et al, 2009;Zheng et al, 2020). However, band assignment using NIRS in complex samples like fungi-infected grain is difficult.…”

“…Aflatoxin is a strong carcinogen, of which heterotoxin A is a precursor of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) and can be used as an indicator of the presence of AFB1. Zheng et al [ 38 ] developed a method for the detection of heterotoxin A in maize by near-infrared spectroscopy, using an extreme value gradient enhancement algorithm (XGBoost) combined with a support vector machine (SVM). A quantitative ranking and secondary quantitative ranking and secondary ranking methods were developed using the extreme value gradient enhancement algorithm (XGBoost) combined with SVM.…”

“…The Food and Agriculture Organization estimated global mycotoxin contamination of food crops at 25%, specifically due to aflatoxins (AFs). , AFs are the most toxic and carcinogenic compounds and produced through multiple enzymatic reactions. In AF biosynthesis pathways, approximately 15 precursors, including norsoloric acid, versicolorin A (Ver A), and sterigmatocystin (ST), have been identified. These precursors also contaminate food and agricultural products, posing a significant risk to human and animal health, which are necessary to be determined accurately. The development of detection methods for these AF precursors is mainly focused on Ver A and ST. Wu et al established an in-tube solid-phase microextraction with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and successfully determined ST in rice samples . Jiang et al developed an aptasensor for the fast detection of Ver A .…”
