Neonatal Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia: An Underdiagnosed Problem in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units

Abstract: Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is one of the most common healthcareassociated infections among ventilated neonates. Remarkably, since there are no specific diagnostic criteria for the neonatal period, VAP criteria for infants <12 months have been generally applied to the newborn patient.
