Neuronal vulnerability to fetal hypoxia-reoxygenation injury and motor deficit development relies on regional brain tetrahydrobiopterin levels

Abstract: Hypertonia is pathognomonic of cerebral palsy (CP), often caused by brain injury before birth. To understand the early driving events of hypertonia, we utilized magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) assessment of early critical brain injury in rabbit fetuses (79% term) that will predict hypertonia after birth following antenatal hypoxia-ischemia. We examined if individual variations in the tetrahydrobiopterin cofactor in the parts of the brain controlling motor function could indicate a role in specific damage to m… Show more

“…Hemofiltration has been proposed as a possible therapeutic option to improve oxygenation by promoting fluid removal, but its efficacy remains controversial. Several studies have concluded that continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), indicated for acute fluid overload (FO) and acute renal failure, improves oxygenation in patients with respiratory failure, hypoxia, and fulminant hepatitis [12][13][14][15][16][17][18]. However, others found no improvement in oxygenation.…”

“…e uterus in the study group was thicker than that in the control group, and the uterine contraction effect was also more obvious than that in the control group, which further showed the superiority of carbetocin. However, the application of carbetocin in other severe conditions [16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23], as well as its efficacy compared with other choices [24] still needs to be validated.…”

“…Moreover, a 7 Computational and Mathematical Methods in Medicine relatively small number of studies were included, and their quality was not high. In certain severe clinical situations [40][41][42][43][44][45][46], the effectiveness and safety of ESPB still need to be evaluated.…”
