Abstract: Five subtypes (D 1 -D 5 ) of dopamine receptors have been cloned and characterized so far, but the contribution of each particular receptor to the development of Parkinson's disease (PD) has not been completely determined because of the absence of the corresponding selective ligands. However, it has been suggested that the main role in the PD development is played by the D 2 -type receptors.
