Neutrino-electron scattering: general constraints on Z′ and dark photon models

Abstract: We study the framework of U (1) X models with kinetic mixing and/or mass mixing terms. We give general and exact analytic formulas and derive limits on a variety of U (1) X models that induce new physics contributions to neutrino-electron scattering, taking into account interference between the new physics and Standard Model contributions. Data from TEXONO, CHARM-II and GEMMA are analyzed and shown to be complementary to each other to provide the most restrictive bounds on masses of the new vector bosons. In p… Show more

“…The constraints of TEXONO, CHARM II, and GEMMA are taken from Ref. [34]. The green dashed curve is for 51 Cr-LXe with configuration A, and dot-dashed for configuration C. Configuration B is not shown here for simplicity, which should be between the dashed and dot-dashed curves.…”

“…Such limits only apply to mediators with masses sufficiently above the momentum transfer scale of the interaction. Some studies have placed bounds on simplified models including a light Z 0 [11,[21][22][23][24], but they all assume a direct coupling to both neutrinos and first-generation quarks rather than indirect couplings induced from mixing.…”

“…The experimentally determinedν e − e − scattering spectrum can be used to constrain extra scattering due to the exchange of a new light A boson as depicted in figure 10. This has been done in [8,112] for the case of a gauged U(1) B−L with a particular emphasis on interference effects of the A with the SM. The determined limit on the gauge coupling …”

“…In [8,112] these results have been used to set a limit on the coupling constant g B−L of a gauged U(1) B−L , again considering interference effects. However, from the experimental publications, the exact neutrino fluxes seem to be unknown and the SM prediction of the differential cross section given in [70] seems to be determined by a shape fit.…”
