Abstract:We developed an automated analytic system for glycated lipoprotein using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with an affinity boronate column and a gel permeation column. This system can measure glycated lipoprotein (glycated LDL and glycated HDL) in a small (5 microliters) sample of serum in a short time (40 min/sample). Recovery with this system was 92.1%. Therefore a large number of samples can be measured in clinical use. The system should contribute to an elucidation of the role of glycated lipo… Show more
“…Glycated LDL and glycated HDL are presented as a percentage of total LDL and total HDL, respectively. The following formula is used to calculate their percentage: Glycated LDL (%) = (glycated LDL) / (glycated LDL + non-glycated LDL) x 100 and glycated HDL (%) = (glycated HDL) / (glycated HDL + non-glycated HDL)] x 100 (Tanaka et al, 2006).…”

“…However, up to date there has been no method to reliably determine serum levels of glycated lipoproteins. Endeavoring to rectify this situation, we recently succeeded in separating glycated lipoproteins from serum lipoproteins by boronate column chromatography and then measuring the serum levels of glycated lipoprotein 17 with HPLC. The data obtained in this study employing this newly devised method are presented herein.…”
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
