New combination between chitosan, single walled carbon nanotubes and neodymium(iii) oxide found to be useful in the electrochemical determination of rutin in the presence of morin and quercetin

Abstract: A glassy carbon electrode surface was modified with a new combination of chitosan, single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) and neodymium(iii) oxide (NdOX) and was found to be effective in the detection of rutin (RU).

“…The Rct and Cdl values for CPE were 5000 ohm and 139 μF, respectively. Similar values have been reported for glassy carbon electrodes . On the other hand, when the carbon paste substrate was combined with Nd 2 O 3 powder, a smaller capacitive semicircle at high frequencies and a straight line with a slope of approximately 45° at low frequencies associated with the semi‐infinite diffusion Warburg‐type impedance were observed.…”

“…However, ΔE using CPE was 1.1 V, and when using Nd OX /CPE, ΔE decreased to 0.75 V. These results indicate a quasi‐reversible process that requires less energy with Nd OX /CPE than with CPE. Similar results were reported using Nd 2 O 3 with carbon nanotubes on a glassy carbon electrode ; these results also confirm the EIS results.…”

“…Morin was extracted from C. arabica samples according to the established procedure. 26 Previously ground in a mortar, 0.2 g of the sample was transferred to a conical flask and 40 mL of hot water was added. The extraction was carried out with constant stirring for 4 min.…”
