Abstract:New evaluation of neutron-induced nuclear data for five stable isotopes of zinc (mass numbers A ¼ 64, 66, 67, 68, and 70) was consistently carried out in the incident neutron energy range from 10 À5 eV up to 20 MeV. In the low energy region up to about 100 keV, the resonance parameters were evaluated by taking account of the available measured data. In the fast neutron region, the comprehensive calculations with nuclear reaction models, in which compound, preequilibrium, and direct processes are taken into acc… Show more

Observables emitted from various spin states in compound U nuclei are investigated to validate usefulness of the surrogate reaction method. It was found that energy spectrum of cascading γ-rays and their multiplicities, spectrum of evaporated neutrons, and mass-distribution of fission fragments show clear dependence on the spin of decaying nuclei. The present results indicate that they can be used to infer populated spin distributions which significantly affect the decay branching ratio of the compound system produced by the surrogate reactions. * Electronic address: chiba.satoshi@jaea.go.jp

It is exactly 50 years since the Japanese Nuclear Data Committee was founded both in the Atomic Energy Society of Japan and in the former Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute. The committee promoted the development of Japan's own evaluated nuclear data libraries. As a result, we managed to produce a series of Japanese Evaluated Nuclear Data Libraries (JENDLs) to be used in various fields for science and technology. The libraries are categorized into general-purpose and special-purpose ones. The generalpurpose libraries have been updated periodically by considering the latest knowledge on experimental and theoretical nuclear physics that was available at the time of the updates. On the other hand, the specialpurpose libraries have been issued in order to meet the needs for particular application fields. This paper reviews the research and development for those libraries.
“…Thus, nuclear model calculations play a significant role in evaluation. Two statistical model codes POD [3] and CCONE [4] have been developed to reflect recent advances a Presenting author, e-mail: shibata.keiichi@jaea.go.jp in nuclear theories on evaluation. The POD code is mainly used in the evaluation for medium and medium-heavy nuclei.…”

“…On the other hand, the spherical optical model cannot reproduce the experimental data in the mass region from A = 150 to 200. Evaluations of Zn [17] and Nd isotopes were performed by using the optical model parameters thus obtained. For example, figures 10 and 11 show the calculated (n,p) cross section of 64 Zn and γ-ray emission spectra for elemental Zn, respectively.…”

Abstract. General-and special-purpose JENDL data files are being produced in cooperation with the Japanese Nuclear Data Committee. Nuclear model codes have been developed in order to raise the reliability of the fourth version of JENDL General-Purpose File (JENDL-4). MA and FP data have been evaluated for JENDL-4. The capture cross section of 235 U was examined in the energy region from 2 keV to 1 MeV. As a follow-up action on the previous library JENDL-3.3, covariances of several nuclei were estimated for a study on ADS. The evaluation for the 2007 versions of JENDL High Energy File (JENDL/HE) and JENDL Photonuclear Data File (JENDL/PD), which are regarded as special-purpose files, is in the final stage. Analyses of neutron transmission experiments reveal the reliability of JENDL/HE.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
