New laser properties and spectroscopy of orthorhombic crystals YAlO3:Er3+. Intensity luminescence characteristics, stimulated emission, and full set of squared reduced-matrix elements |〈α[SL]J| |U(t)||α′[S′ L′]J′〉|2 for Er3+ Ions

Abstract: New laser data on orthorhombic YAlO3:Er3+ crystals are obtained. Stimulated emission in the 4S3/2 →5I15/2 channel and cascase lasing of the sequential intermanifold 4S3/2 → 4I11/2 → 4I13/2 transitions are excited at ≈︁ 110 K with Xe‐flashlamp pumping. Intensity absorption and luminescence characteristics of Er3+ ions in the YAlO3 crystal are experimentally determined and quantitatively analyzed in terms of the known semiempirical method. The intensity spectroscopic parameters Ωt obtained (Ω2 = 0.95, Ω4 = 0.58,… Show more

“…(4) should lead to contradictions more often than is actually the case. Since the energy intervals between the excited 4f N −1 5d 1 configuration and the high-and lowlying 4f N manifolds differ significantly from one another, [58,59]). e) This SE channel is included in the table conditionally because in [60] no scientific explanation for its identification was given.…”

“…The J-O model basically describes the perturbation of the 4f n states by opposite parity 4f n À 1 5d on the basis of three parameters Ω λ ¼ 2,4,6 [28]. Since the admixing of the 4f n states in Ln ion is the function of local crystal field, symmetry, bonding nature etc, J-O parameters in turn yield information on the local interactions of Ln 3 þ with the surrounding environment.…”

“…Based on the nonpolarized absorption spectra, the spectroscopic properties of Er 3+ -doped YAP crystals have been investigated by Weber et al [14], Kaminskii et al [15], and Sardar et al [16]. However, because Er:YAP crystals are biaxial and anisotropic, polarized spectroscopic properties should be used to evaluate their laser performances.…”
