New nanocomposites of polystyrene with polyaniline doped with lauryl sulfuric acid

Abstract: This work is concentrated on synthesis and investigation of new core-shell nanocomposites of polystyrene (PS) with doped polyaniline (PANI). The latex containing PS nanoparticles with sizes of 15–30 nm was prepared by microemulsion polymerization of styrene in water media. The PS/PANI nanocomposites were synthesized by chemical oxidative polymerization of aniline in the PS latex media in a presence of lauryl sulfuric acid (LSA), which served as both dopant and plasticizer. The real content of PANI in the synth… Show more

“…Further, SLS has symmetric double bond in its structure (O=S=O) might have facilititated in improving the thermal stability. A similar enhancement in the thermal stability was reported elsewhere [53,54]. However, the exact mechanism for thermal stability enahancement is still unclear.…”

“…1B, shows the result of the interaction of γ-irradiation with water molecules produces secondary electrons that can interact with other water molecules. This result will produce OHanions, which proposed that γ-irradiation produces one electron from the polymeric surface creating an H + defect and the secondary electron produced interacts now with a water molecule producing an OHanion that can be used as a counter anion to neutralize the H + defect (Ali et al, 2007;Banimahd Keivani et al, 2010;Virk and Srivastava, 2001;Pud et al, 2017). Moreover, this result also is an evidence that γ-irradiation can dope PANI and improve its properties.…”

“…Structure differences between the conducting polymer in pure and composite states were confirmed for different (nano)composites [16,17,19,23,25,26,29,[30][31][32][33]. For example, from the XRD-spectra of doped polyaniline and its nanostructured composite with polycarbonate (PC), we found that its degree of crystallinity in the pure state was about 3 times lower, and 6.…”
