New non-toxic holographic photopolymer material

Abstract: There is an increasing need for environmentally friendly holographic recording materials which can be produced in bulk with little risk to the health of workers in manufacturing. This is why the development of non-toxic photopolymer materials is crucial, and has attracted attention in recent years. Composition and preliminary characterization of a new non-toxic photopolymer material are presented. It operates well at a range of spatial frequencies, and achieves diffraction efficiencies and refractive index mod… Show more

“…Here, 1ml of glycerol solution was added to the DA-based photopolymer composition [1], as optimum layer quality was observed for this concentration. The modified photopolymer has been characterised in terms of its intensity dependence, exposure energy dependence and spatial frequency dependence.…”

“…The optimization and characterization of a new non-toxic Diacetone Acrylamide (DA) based photopolymer has previously been described [1]. The improved photopolymer composition is shown to have holographic recording features similar to that of the standard Acrylamide (AA) based photopolymer [2], but with reduced toxicity due to the replacement low-toxicity monomer Diacetone Acrylamide [3][4][5][6][7][8][9].…”

“…The main problem of this type of photopolymers is the important toxicity of the main monomer, AA. Some efforts have been made to substitute this component in the chemical formulations so as to design highly compatible environmental photopolymers [17][18][19][20]: one of the greenest photopolymers is called Biophotopol [19], BIO. A photopolymer based in this material will be the second material analyzed in this work.…”

“…Для повышения безопасности работы с фотополимер-ными композициями вместо акриламидных регистриру-ющих сред были предложены нетоксичные композиции на основе диацетонакриламида, которые обеспечивают регистрацию голограмм с ДЭ более 90% в слоях толщиной 70 µm [34]. Резкое снижение токсичности доказано экспериментально [35].…”
