New pedagogical experiment leading to awareness in nanosciences and nanotechnologies for young generations at secondary school

Abstract

ISBN 978-1-4673-2332-1International audienceIn order to prepare the future of science and technology of information and communication, and due to the huge evolution of the associated techniques during the last fifty years, it is more and more important to attract good students and researchers in this field. It is well known that during the last fifteen years, a strong decrease of interest of the young pupils for exact sciences is observed in the major part of Europe, following the same trend that North America encountered several years ago. A way to invert this trend consists in educating young generations in nanotechnology and nanosciences. The peculiar environment in Grenoble with the presence of world-class research centers and an education oriented center of micro- and nanoelectronics allowed building adapted programs thanks to a strong collaboration between these centers and the secondary school administration. During the last three years, the so-called Nano@school project enabled dozens of classes a year to follow an original curriculum benefiting from this exceptional environment. This paper deals with this experiment. After a description of the project, some analysis and evaluation are presented

Innovating projects as a pedagogical strategy for the French network for education in microélectronics and nanotechnologies

“…Nano@School experiment was launched in the framework of Nano-Innov and continues in FINMINA as well as in the GIP program. A first successful experience with the Rector of the Academy of Grenoble during the years 2009-2011 has raised awareness of 11 classes/per year [11]. Meanwhile, similar actions were carried out in the centers of Lille, Toulouse and Paris-Sud, and are today extended to other GIP centers.…”

Actions de sensibilisation à la microélectronique envers les lycéens dans le cadre du projet Nano@school

“…C'est dans cet objectif qu'a été conçu le programme « Nano@school ». Il a pu être mis en place par la volonté affirmée de trois acteurs : des enseignants-chercheurs de l'enseignement supérieur, des chercheurs des centres de recherche et transfert tel que le CEA et de l'inspection pédagogique de Physique-Chimie du Rectorat d'académie de Grenoble, de bâtir une expérience de sensibilisation de lycéens, de préférence dans des classes à vocation scientifique, et de la prolonger en cas de succès (6). L'objectif final est de développer l'attractivité de ce domaine d'activité et d'augmenter sensiblement le vivier de compétences techniques et scientifiques afin d'alimenter la filière électronique française, à minima.…”
