André Aptroot,
Robert Lücking,
Marcela Eugenia da Silva Cáceres

Abstract: We describe 14 new lichen species in the family Graphidaceae, mainly from the Amazon basin: Acanthothecis aggregata, Allographa ancelina, A. apicalinspersa, Chapsa constrictospora, C. diorygmoides, C. lichexanthonica, Clandestinotrema caloplacosporum, Diorygma defectoisidiatum, D. gyrosum, D. lichexanthonicum, D. norsubmuriforme, D. salxanthonicum, D. toensbergianum, and Ocellularia flavoradiata. For each species, it is indicated where and how it would key out in a recent identification key. Two of the Diorygm… Show more

“…Phylogenetic analysis in 2018 indicates that there are 271 Graphis species in the Graphidaceae core group. However, several Graphis species have been recently discovered in Brazil (Aptroot, Lücking & da Silva Cáceres, 2023;de Oliveira Junior et al, 2020), the Colombian Amazon (Lücking et al, 2023), and Thailand (Motta, Amortegui, Moncada & Lücking, 2019;Weerakoon, Aptroot, Lücking, Arachchige & Wijesundara, 2019).…”

“…Wimalasena et al (2022) described the genus to include 77 species [10]. The total has now increased to 85 [11][12][13]. The genus Diorygma belongs to Graphidaceae, Graphidales, Ostropomycetidae, and Lecanoromycetes, usually on bark [3,10,14,15].…”

“…The genus Diorygma belongs to Graphidaceae, Graphidales, Ostropomycetidae, and Lecanoromycetes, usually on bark [3,10,14,15]. Diorygma is characterized by a crustose, off-white to pale olivegreen thallus; lirelliform to irregularly rounded ascomata with a pruinose disc; exciple uncarbonized or sometimes carbonized; hymenium hyaline, not inspersed, branched or anastomosing paraphyses with a thick gelatinous wall; asci clavate, 1-8-spored; ascospores hyaline (rarely brownish), transversely septate to mostly muriform; substances including norstictic or stictic acid or the protocetraric acid complex [3,6,11].…”
