“…Three organic dyes 15‐17 with an electron donor 9‐hexyl‐2‐(hexyloxy)‐9H‐carbazole (HHCBZ) were reported by Su et al 73 and, in contrast, 18 having 9‐hexyl‐9H‐carbazole (HCBZ) was also synthesized. Integration of the HHCBZ group into triarylamine offers many superiorities: (a) a redshift in the absorption peak and a raise in the overall MEC of the absorption bands; (b) a decrease in the recombination of charges in iodine‐ and cobalt‐based devices; and (c) an improved photovoltage/photocurrent and, hence, the PCE.…”

“…Thus, it is desirable to look for alternative dyes. In recent years, various metal-free D−π−A organic dyes have been extensively studied, for example, porphyrin, 8−10 triarylamine, 11,12 thiophene, 13−15 coumarins, 16 carbazole, 17 and boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY). 18 BODIPY can be used as strong absorption sensitizers for DSSCs because of its easy structural modification, excellent photostability, and strong light absorption.…”

“…The reports on investigation of different solvents including dioxane, chloroform, acetone, ethanol, methanol, methyltetrahydrofolate, dimethylformamide, acetonitrile, water and so forth are available in literature [16][17][18]. The choice of water as solvent is common as it appeared to support the dye structure stability and enhances the efficiency of DSSC but sometimes it desorbs the dye molecules in the electrolyte [19]. A study revealed that 10% of water does not affect the stability of dye structure and thus the performance of DSSC but the higher concentration may detach the dye molecules from the surface of titania [20,21].…”
