New Triterpenoids from the Fruiting Bodies of Ganoderma lucidum and Their Bioactivities

Abstract: Phytochemical investigation of the AcOEt extract of G. Lucidum has led to the isolation of two new triterpenoids, 1 and 2, together with five known ones, 3-7. The structures of the new compounds were identified as 12β-acetoxy-3β,7β-dihydroxy-11,15,23-trioxolanost-8-en-26-oic acid butyl ester (1) and 12β-acetoxy-3,7,11,15,23-pentaoxolanost-8-en-26-oic acid butyl ester (2) on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis (mass spectrometry, and 1D- and 2D-NMR experiments). The antimicrobial activities of 1 and 2 … Show more

“…Additionally, there are more than 100 kinds of triterpene compounds isolated from Ganoderma fruiting bodies, spores and mycelium (especially fruiting bodies). However, the constituents of the triterpenes from the three different sources are different, and most of the triterpenes or TAs with biological activities are isolated from the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma [4,22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29], and whether the triterpenes or TAs prepared from submerged culture Ganoderma (especially G. lingzhi ) mycelium possesses antitumor activity needs to be further proved.…”

“…Outbreaks of EV71 infection have been periodically reported worldwide [ 154 , 155 , 156 ]. For instance, China has recently seen increased deaths linked to EV71 infection and HFMD among the young population [ 131 , 138 , 157 , 158 ]. As mentioned above, there are no approved drugs for preventing or treating EV71 infection, but currently, antiviral drugs with a broad spectrum (e.g., acyclovir, ganciclovir, and ribavirin) are used to partially relieve infection symptoms, although they have high cytotoxic side effects [ 159 ].…”

“…The antistaphylococcal activity of extracts from fruiting body of G. lucidum strain was represented by inhibition zone diameter ranging from 2.2 to 2.5 cm recorded against S. aureus [15]. The isolated compound, 12β-acetoxy-3β, 7β-dihydroxy-11, 15, 23-trioxolanost-8-en-26-oic acid butyl ester (1) from G. lucidum displayed MIC value of 68.5 um against S. aureus [70]. Ganoderma pfeifferi is one of the phytochemically less investigated species of the family Ganodermataceae.…”
