“…After finishing this article, a number of papers dealing with electrochemistry of NAs have been published, e.g., including several reviews on interesting topics, such as cyclic voltammetry of metal-based antitumor drug-DNA interactions, redox indicators for DNA EC analysis, electrically heated electrodes, integration of amperometric detection with electrophoretic microchip devices, SAMs for EC sensing, and carbon paste electrodes for DNA analysis . Very recently, a special issue of The Chemical Record has been published on the occasion of 90 years of Polarography.…”

“…The introduction of voltammetric techniques and the first electroanalytical instrument goes back to the pioneering work of Jaroslav Heyrovský , who was awarded with the Nobel Prize in 1959 for ''his discovery and development of the polarographic methods of analysis". He introduced the first instrument (polarograph), which enabled the recording of potential-current curves at a dropping mercury electrode [6,7]. Nowadays, electrochemical techniques applied in the field of redox active macromolecules encompass basically all techniques ranging from potentiometric measurements using field effect transistors to routinely applied voltammetric techniques and sophisticated electrochemical impedance measurements.…”

“…Since the establishment of polarography as an analytical technique by Heyrosvsky, 1,2 the electrochemical behavior of chemical species onto metallic electrodic surfaces has raised interest in many fields of science. 3 From the use of ultrapure liquid mercury to nanostructured devices, passing through bulk noble metals, a wide range of electrodes has been investigated in electroanalysis, considering both analyte and media properties, samples and technique to be applied.…”
