Abstract:The cellular glycogen pool and nitrate reductase activity were measured in the cyanobacterium Phormidium uncinatum after infection with cyanophage LPP‐1, under both light and dark conditions. While dark incubation of the cyanobacterium reduced the glycogen level, the nitrate reductase (NR) activity remained almost unchanged. Furthermore, cyanophage multiplication enhances cellular glycogen level and NR activity in both illuminated and dark‐incubated cyanobacterial cultures. Cyanophage‐mediated increase in host… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
