Noise impact in the determination of synchronous machine equivalent circuits using SSFR data

Abstract: In this work, the impact of noise in the parametric identification of synchronous machine two-axis equivalent circuits using SSFR data is analyzed. Equivalent circuits of one and three damper branches are used to model the synchronous machine. Noise is synthetically included into the SSFR data previously obtained from a finite-element simulation. A uniform probability density is used to include two noise ratios in a synthetic way. Quantitative results show differences in the values of parameters. Nevertheless,… Show more

“…A major drawback of this method is that the result can converge to a local minimum depending on the initial values used and the choice of model. Other more robust alternatives are presented in some publications, such as the Maximum Likelihood Method [24], genetic algorithms [25,26], and particle swarm optimization [27], or stochastic fractal search algorithm [28]. However, their implementation is more complex and requires more computing power than the methods suggested in the IEEE 115 standard [5].…”

“…With all the developed tools and gained experience over the Standstill Frequency Response Test and Validation of a Large Hydrogenerator years, the basic difficulties emphasized in [8] remain challenging issues [16]- [18]. Moreover, the majority of recent SSFR experiments and new techniques were conducted mainly on small or special laboratory machines.…”

“…Para a máquina síncrona utilizada na presente dissertação, foi possível posicionar o rotor no eixo direto sem as dificuldades pontuadas pelo autor deste artigo. Hernandez et al (2006) estudaram o impacto do ruído na determinação dos parâmetros do circuito equivalente de uma máquina síncrona ensaiada no domínio da frequência. Para realizar o ensaio, foram utilizados circuitos equivalentes de um e três ramos amortecedores, respectivamente.…”
