Nomadic writing1 in early childhood education

Abstract: This article explores how the processes of writing and writers emerge and transform in two examples of Swedish early childhood educational writing practices. Students’ writing is a multifaceted activity involving a myriad of interconnected elements; however, to make sense of what is going on, more knowledge is needed about the connectivity, the movement and the unpredictability inherent in these activities. Taking a posthuman and nomadic perspective, the article studies how text and writer are co-constituted t… Show more

“…It is an approach that does not endeavour primarily to obtain results that can be generalised about children's lives, but rather it enables us to focus on lived moments with a particular specificity, urging an engagement in children's narration in a non-exclusive way (see the previous section). This brings us to what is perhaps its most important consequence for children: Based on the 'becoming' nature of children together with all the other elements coexisting in the moment, the potentialities of the child are kept radically open (see Hermansson 2013). It is an ethical choice to refrain from seeing children through the lens of exclusive categories.…”

“…Many of these approaches draw on the philosophy of Deleuze andGuattari ([1980] 1987;Lenz Taguchi 2010;Davies and Gannon 2012;Lee and Motzkau 2011;Guttorm 2012;Hermansson 2013) or agential realism (Barad 2007; see also Rautio 2013). There are two basic and common features in these theories.…”

“…Cosgrove, 1999;Dodge, Kitchin & Perkins, 2009).
