The main aim of this research is to establish the algorithm for nonlinear thermo-mechanical buckling of sandwich functionally graded graphene platelet reinforced composite (FG-GPLRC) shallow spherical caps and circular plates with porous core under external pressure and/or uniformly distributed thermal load according to the higher-order shear deformation theory considering the von Karman nonlinearities. Sandwich spherical caps and circular plates are made by the porous core and two FG-GPLRC coatings and are assumed to be rested on an elastic foundation modeled by the Pasternak model. The equilibrium equation system in the form of nonlinear algebra can be approximately obtained using the Ritz energy method. The critical buckling loads and postbuckling curves can be explicitly determined. The effects of material parameters, geometrical parameters, porous core, and elastic foundation on thermo-mechanical buckling of sandwich spherical caps and circular plates with porous core and FG-GPLRC coatings are investigated and discussed in detail in the numerical investigation section.

Isogeometric analysis (IGA) is known to show advanced features compared to traditional finite element approaches. Using IGA one may accurately obtain the geometrically nonlinear bending behavior of plates with functional grading (FG). However, the procedure is usually complex and often is time-consuming. We thus put forward a deep learning method to model the geometrically nonlinear bending behavior of FG plates, bypassing the complex IGA simulation process. A long bidirectional short-term memory (BLSTM) recurrent neural network is trained using the load and gradient index as inputs and the displacement responses as outputs. The nonlinear relationship between the outputs and the inputs is constructed using machine learning so that the displacements can be directly estimated by the deep learning network. To provide enough training data, we use S-FSDT Von-Karman IGA and obtain the displacement responses for different loads and gradient indexes. Results show that the recognition error is low, and demonstrate the feasibility of deep learning technique as a fast and accurate alternative to IGA for modeling the geometrically nonlinear bending behavior of FG plates.

Recently, the mechanical performance of various mechanical, electrical, and civil structures, including static and dynamic analysis, has been widely studied. Due to the neuroma's advanced technology in various engineering fields and applications, developing small-size structures has become highly demanded for several structural geometries. One of the most important is the nano/micro-plate structure. However, the essential nature of highly lightweight material with extraordinary mechanical, electrical, physical, and material characterizations makes researchers more interested in developing composite/laminated-composite-plate structures. To comprehend the dynamical behavior, precisely the linear/nonlinear-free vibrational responses, and to represent the enhancement of several parameters such as nonlocal, geometry, boundary condition parameters, etc., on the free vibrational performance at nano/micro scale size, it is revealed that to employ all various parameters into various mathematical equations and to solve the defined governing equations by analytical, numerical, high order, and mixed solutions. Thus, the presented literature review is considered the first work focused on investigating the linear/nonlinear free vibrational behavior of plates on a small scale and the impact of various parameters on both dimensional/dimensionless natural/fundamental frequency and Eigen-value. The literature is classified based on solution type and with/without considering the size dependency effect. As a key finding, most research in the literature implemented analytical or numerical solutions. The drawback of classical plate theory can be overcome by utilizing and developing the elasticity theories. The nonlocality, weight fraction of porosity, or the reinforcements, and its distribution type of elastic foundation significantly influence the frequencies.
