Nonstructural Seismic Loss Analysis of Traditional and Innovative Partition Systems Housed in Code-conforming RC Frame Buildings

Abstract: This study investigates the seismic losses associated with the damage of traditional and innovative partitions housed in code-conforming RC frame buildings. Three-story buildings located in low-to-high seismicity sites in Italy are considered. Nonlinear multiple-stripe analyses are performed according to the conditional spectrum approach. The partition capacities are evaluated according to experimental studies, and the elementary partition costs are derived considering the Italian construction price lists. The… Show more

“…There are few discussions about the influence of ceiling damage on functionality, such as the normal operation and out-of-service damage level in medical facilities. Though several post-earthquake loss evaluation methodologies have been proposed (e.g., [43][44][45][46] ), the conventional damage index for ceilings, that is, the dropping ratio of ceiling panels, may not be applicable to evaluate the seismic damage to the ceiling in medical rooms. The research team collected information on the damage and functionality loss from the manufacturer of ceiling systems for normal rooms and cleanrooms.…”
