Nontyphoidal Salmonella Bacteremia and Pneumonia as the Initial Manifestation of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection in a Four-Year-Old Child

Abstract: This report describes the case of a 4-year-old human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected girl with Salmonella typhimurium bacteremia and pneumonia. The girl presented with a history of fever for 1 month and mild pulmonary symptoms. Subsequent studies revealed previously undiagnosed HIV disease.
