In this paper, we develop a novel method for integrating system thinking into architectural design by mapping its processes in a standard process modeling language. We structured a decision-support framework using process mapping workflows to incorporate sustainable building materials and resource-based design decisions into the architectural practice. We turned to other disciplines’ knowledgebases, such as Business Information Technology (BIT), to develop a workflow for the Design-Bid-Build project delivery method (DBB). Mapping both current and the proposed design processes, including their activities, workflow, and decision nodes, was critical in defining roles, flow of information, and subsequent decisions. In this study, we utilized a qualitative methodology to capture the required knowledge from industry experts in resource-based design and then integrated our findings into a set of process maps to support the materials decisions by the architectural project team. This study establishes a system of information exchange to support the growth of the newly emerging industry of reuse stores and vendors. Through numerous interviews and knowledge capturing sessions with industry experts from the building material reuse industry that acknowledged an absence of a "system of information exchange." It is through this study that an overall system of information exchange will connect the links between the reuse industry and the AEC industry. The primary outcome of this study is a structured process for design with resource reuse. This process will redefine the DBB traditional design process by introducing new procedures, define information exchange and identify key decisions within the proposed processes, define responsibilities and identify key stakeholders. The author conducted an extensive multi-year knowledge capturing process with constructive feedback from the industry experts.

Process modeling for historical buildings restoration: an innovation in the management of cultural heritage

<span lang="EN-GB">Cultural heritage is a complex ecosystem requiring innovative methods and techniques to facilitate its restoration, management and valorization. In detail, restoration processes have to preserve the original characteristics of historical buildings or sites, by involving different professional figures, each one with different roles, responsibilities and skills. In this light, a system that facilitates the information management, supported by new technologies, could allow more precise, efficient and traceable information exchange and could optimize the construction and management operative phase. Starting from these assumptions, the research proposes the application of a new integrated approach to a restoration process of a historical building. It consists of applying Business Process Management (BPM) approach and Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology to provide valuable insights to optimize the data flow, to gather information and to share knowledge during the restoration process, by optimizing the whole lifecycle management process, by facilitating the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance. All these aspects are essential and strategic for the Italian cultural heritage.</span>

Abstract. In this article is described an effort to develop a new system of management and economy of building materials scrap recycling cluster. For this task is used conception "Management by Objective" by American legend Peter Drucker. Thus cluster participants have divergent purposes, but have common purpose, the present conception match the most for develop business strategy of uniting companies in this cluster. As result, it was developed a "Balanced Scorecard" for the cluster. This "Balanced Scorecard" take into account technological features of companies in cluster and developed common purpose system. In base of system structure of indicators there is exist model of cluster. This model can show capacity, output flows and throughput capacity of participants. During develop a system of cluster's purposes it were learned priorities balance of economy efficiency and natural resource management. There are shown calculation of costs of reuse building recycled materials, located on solid waste landfill. Developed strategic system of purpose of cluster activity allows to get economical benefit all participants and for citizens to save environment from nature disaster.
