Novel methods for axial fan impeller geometry analysis and experimental investigations of the generated swirl turbulent flow

Abstract: Geometry analysis of the axial fan impeller, experimentally obtained operating characteristics and experimental investigations of the turbulent swirl flow generated behind the impeller are presented in this paper. Formerly designed and manufactured, axial fan impeller blade geometry (originally designed by Prof. DrIng. Z. Protić † ) has been digitized using a three-dimensional scanner. In parallel, the same impeller has been modeled by beta version software for modeling axial turbomachines, based on modified c… Show more

“…Also, an algebraic model was made for calculation of the pressure and velocity profiles along the pipe. Results of calculation are compared with the experimental ones in Benišek [6,7,9,13,18,25,28], Benišek et al [15,16,34,39,50,51,53,60,70,75,76,79,80,86,88,93,94,98,99,102,115], Protić et al [14,20,31,38,45,77,114], Čantrak S. “…In the vortex core Čantrak Dj. introduced stereo particle image velocimetry (SPIV) in his research in 2007 [106,108,114,118,119,121,122,125,126,127,128,132,133,139,141,146,147,150]. He investigated the structure of turbulent swirl flow generated by the axial fan impellers in the pipe.…”

“…The swirling confined jet treated here is different from the conventional jet because of the existence of a tangential component velocity. To attain this type of flow, one can either use the axial fan impeller for generating rotating turbulent flow, or use swirling mechanical systems [14]. For example, this system includes inclined vanes, Figures 2a and 2c, which is put in the generating tube jet, Figure 2b.…”

“…1. To achieve this type of flow, one can either use the axial fan impeller for generating swirl turbulent flow, or use swirling mechanical systems [19]. On the latter, seven devices blowing hot air are fixed and directed downwards, and the lower part of these devices is used to fix different types of diffiisers provided with inclined vanes, depending on the studied configuration.…”
