Novel treatment of Hori′s nevus: A combination of fractional nonablative 2,940-nm Er:YAG and low-fluence 1,064-nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser

Abstract: Objective:To demonstrate a combination laser therapy to treat Hori's nevus.Design:A prospective study.Setting:A Singapore-based clinic.Participants:Five female patients, aged 30-46 years, with bilateral malar Hori's nevus.Measurements:Photographs were taken before treatment and 1 month after laser treatment was completed. These were graded by three independent physicians. The patients were also asked to grade their treatment response subjectively. They were followed up for a total of 3 months after laser treat… Show more

“…All the patients expressed satisfaction and no adverse effects were observed during the follow‐up. As the two lasers work on different targets synergistically, the investigators could choose lower fluence for each laser type, which can reduce the chance of complications (Tian, ).…”

“…Similar comparable efficacy was seen (excellent response in all participants after three or more sessions) in case of combined Er:YAG + Nd:YAG laser treatment, and the advantage of this combination of lasers was that it acted synergistically and no adverse event of the procedure was seen (including dyschromia). The synergistic action of both the lasers allowed to apply low fluence of both resulting in less adverse events (Tian, ).…”

“…Although many treatment modalities have been tried, the most successful means of removal include the use of QS lasers; in individuals with skin of color, use of the longer wavelength Nd:YAG is safest [80][81][82][83][84][85][86].…”

“…The treatment of Hori's nevus is necessary because of cosmetic concerns. But the treatment of Hori's nevus without side effects such as purpura, crust, Postinflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH), scarring and recurrences is very difficult [4][5][6][7]. In this paper, we present the new combination treatment of Hori's nevus using Dr. Hoon Hur's Golden Parameter with a high fluence 1064nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser and Dr. Hoon Hur's Optimal Melanocytic Suicide-2 Parameter with a high fluence 1064nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser without side effects and recurrences.…”
