“…
A B S T R A C TWe report on the self-assembly behavior of poly(2-methyl-2-oxazoline)-block-poly(2-octyl-2oxazoline) comprising different terminal perfluoroalkyl fragments in aqueous solutions. As reported previously [Kaberov et al (2017)] such polyphiles can form a plethora of nanostructures depending of the composition and on the way of preparation. Here we report, for the first time, detailed information on the internal structure of the nanoparticles resulting from the self-assembly of these copolymers.

“…Materials 2-Methyl-2-oxazoline (MeOx, 99%, Acros Organics) was dried over BaO and distilled before use. 2-(n-octyl)-2-oxazoline (OctOx) was synthesized according to procedure described elsewhere [32]. Perfluorinated acids (nonanoic, undecanoic, tridecanoic) and p-toluenesulfonate were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich and used as received.…”

“…who designed copolymers containing both hydrophilic and lipophilic POx blocks . More recently, POx blocks have been linked to bio‐based blocks such as glycopolymers and fatty derivatives or to petro‐based blocks including polysiloxanes, aliphatic polyesters and fluorinated chains, giving various amphiphilic copolymers with surfactant or self‐assembling properties . Their use as a surfactant for instance for emulsion polymerization or solubilization of dyes has recently been reported …”

“…Initially, our interest to study such nanoparticles focused on the drug delivery of metallacarboranes, to extend their potential use in already known biomedical applications, such as inhibition of HIV protease and boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) for cancer treatment . Instead of PMA in alkaline buffers, we therefore chose poly(2‐alkyl‐2‐oxazoline)s (PAOxs), which have become a highly promising alternative to PEO because of their biocompatibility, wide variety of possible structural modifications, hydrophilicity, and thermoresponsive behavior, depending on the type of side chains . Previous studies from our laboratory showed that the interaction between COSAN and PAOx is strong enough to form nanoparticles, albeit leading to fairly soluble complexes.…”
