Novel tyrosinase inhibitors from liquid culture ofNeolentinus lepideus

Abstract: Tyrosinase is the key enzyme that controls melanin formation in the human skin. We performed a screening of 96 extracts of mushroom cultures and fruiting bodies for examining their inhibitory activity against mushroom tyrosinase. The ethyl acetate extracts of culture filtrate of Neolentinus lepideus exhibited the strongest inhibitory activity. The active compounds 1 and 2 were purified by repeated chromatographic separations from the extract. On the basis of spectroscopic analyses, 1 and 2 were identified to b… Show more

“…Paecilomyces sp 166 , . Phellinus linteus 167 , Daedalea dickinsii 168 , Dictyophora indusiata 169 along with a liquid culture of Neolentinus lepideus 170 have been reported as a source of novel tyrosinase inhibitor by producing bioactive compounds. Also, there have been several reports on tyrosinase inhibitors from some marine fungi species such as Myrothecium sp.…”

“…Phytochemical investigations of N. lepideus established the presence in the fruiting bodies of two new secondary metabolites, 5-methoxyisobenzofuran-4,7(1H,3H)-dione 67 70were isolated from an EtOAc extract of a culture filtrate and showed tyrosinase inhibitory activity with IC 50 values of 173 and 263 µg/mL, respectively [167]. Extracts from the fruiting bodies of N. lepideus have been reported to possess antioxidant [168], antityrosinase [168], antihyperlipidemic [163], and immunomodulating activities [169,170].…”
