Numerical Analysis of Combined Wave Radiation and Diffraction on a Floating Barge

Abstract: A two-dimensional boundary element method (BEM) based on the potential flow theory is adopted to study the combined wave radiation and diffraction by a single barge. The wave-body interaction problems are simulated using a mixed Euler-Lagrangian scheme, with fully nonlinear boundary conditions. The numerical schemes are verified through comparing with existing results, which show that both the wave runups on the barge and hydrodynamic forces can be calculated with sufficient accuracy. Cases of a single barge s… Show more

“…The first approach is used in most of the studies, and its most popular solvers are WAMIT, NEMOH, ANSYS AQWA, based on the number of published articles. Regardless of limitations in the linearized method, researchers continue to use it, especially in small arrays because it returns valuable results in a short time (Babarit, 2010;Li et al, 2020b). The semi-analytical approach has been investigated by many researchers in this field.…”

“…Ref. [13] studied the combined scattering and radiation problem for a floating rectangular barge using a mixed Euler-Lagrangian scheme, and the associated boundary conditions were taken to be nonlinear in nature. Recently, Ref.…”
