Numerical Analysis of Disclinations in Connecting Kink Bands Formed by Multiple Basal Shear

Abstract: We analyzed the kinematic (geometric) aspects of kink bands with multiple basal shear using rank-1 connection to investigate the type of disclination and annihilation of disclinations in kink microstructures. We found that wedge disclinations occur in connecting kink bands for realistic magnitude of shear that can occur, regardless of the shear direction.
