Numerical investigation on erosion wear and strength of main gas pipelines bends

Abstract: The purpose of this work is to ensuring the strength of main gas pipelines bends by studying the peculiarities of single-phase and multiphase flows movement through the internal cavity, the processes of erosion wear and the wall stress state. The problem of synergistic influence of gas-dynamic processes (uneven pressure distribution in the internal cavity), temperature difference and erosion wear on the stress state of the bends of main gas pipelines was solved by numerical simulation. Based on the results of … Show more

“…As a result, there are difficulties in restoring the collector properties of bottom-hole zone. In addition, the operation of oil and gas condensate wells causes complications related to the destruction of the bottomhole zone, water encroachment [23][24][25], hydrates [26], corrosion [27][28][29] and erosion [30] of equipment, etc. To maintain the planned volumes of hydrocarbon production and restore the technical condition of wells in such fields it is required to perform workovers, before which, in accordance with the requirements of RLALP 11.1-1.01-08 (regulatory legal acts on labor protection)"Safety rules in the oil and gas industry of Ukraine", the well must be shut down.…”

“…To achieve effective liquid removal, it is necessary to use high quality foam, as evidenced by research results. Also, cleaning of wells is necessary because liquid and solid particles carried out from them can lead to erosive wear of shaped elements of gas pipelines, which affects their strength [7].…”

“…These pipeline systems are branched networks that contain numerous fittings such as bends, various tees (stamped and welded), reducers, and collectors with different internal geometries. Additionally, the flow direction changes within these fittings, leading to complex flow patterns [14,15]. Such factors contribute to the unpredictability of pig application, increase the risk of pig jamming [16,17], reduce their universality, and require an individualized approach to cleaning each pipeline.…”

“…Studies show that fly ash, a residue from coal burning, can greatly improve the mechanical characteristics of metal matrix composites. Incorporating fly ash into Al-4Si-Mg composites resulted in higher porosity and reduced hardness [13]. Polypropylene fiber enhanced the strength and durability of fly ash blended concrete [14].…”
