The article presents several different ways to increase the accuracy of the numerical solution of differential equations. The comparison of schemes with different accuracy for the first order wave equation problem is presented. The schemes of the first order of upwind scheme, the second order of accuracy of McCormack, the third order of accuracy of Warming–Cutler–Lomax, and the scheme of the fourth order of accuracy of Abarbanel–Gotlieb–Turkel were applied. The condensed computational grids for the McCormack scheme are used, and the results using an adaptive grid for the McCormack scheme were compared.

Analytical methods exist to solve the problems of hydromechanics and heat transfer, but it is not possible to obtain the solution to some inhomogeneous and nonlinear problems of hydromechanics and heat transfer by analytical methods. The solution to such problems is carried out using numerical methods. Currently, there are many textbooks and monographs on numerical methods for solving problems of hydromechanics, thermal conductivity, heat and mass transfer, and others. The article presents the results of a numerical study of the flow structure in the flow around a flat plate. The calculations are based on the numerical solution of a system of nonstationary equations using a two-fluid turbulence model. For the numerical solution of these problems, schemes of the second and fourth order of accuracy were applied. The control volume method was used for the difference approximation of the initial equations, and the relationship between velocities and pressure was found using the SIMPLE procedure. To confirm the correctness of the numerical results, comparisons were made with each other and experimental data.

A cyclone separator is an equipment that separates particles contained in a liquid or gas without filters. Dust particles in flue gases can be separated using centrifugal forces and different particle densities so that the exhaust gases must be cleaned before being discharged into the environment. The selection of optimal geometric dimensions and operation parameters of industrial equipment is always a topical issue. In the work, numerical modeling and research of a modified centrifugal cyclone dust collector are carried out. A modified centrifugal cyclone was developed by one of the article's authors at the Institute of Mechanics and Seismic Resistance of Structures of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which has a high efficiency of at least 98%. The study was carried out in the Comsol Multiphysics 5.6 engineering software package using the Flow Simulation add-on, designed to simulate hydrodynamic processes. The relevance of the chosen research topic was indicated. The standard k-ɛ model is chosen as a turbulence model, which is often used in engineering problems. The computational experiment was carried out at three flow rates in the centrifugal cyclone. Based on the obtained numerical data, it is shown that the efficiency of the modified cyclone is significantly higher than that of the classical cyclone.
