Numerical Study of the Magnetic Field Effects on the Heat Transfer and Entropy Generation Aspects of a Power Law Fluid over an Axisymmetric Stretching Plate Structure

Abstract: Numerical investigation of the effects of magnetic field strength, thermal radiation, Joule heating, and viscous heating on a forced convective flow of a non-Newtonian, incompressible power law fluid in an axisymmetric stretching sheet with variable temperature wall is accomplished. The power law shear thinning viscosity-shear rate model for the anisotropic solutions and the Rosseland approximation for the thermal radiation through a highly absorbing medium are considered. The temperature dependent heat source… Show more

“…The reaction of a non-uniform heat source on liquid heat transfer past a porous stretching sheet was verified in [9] and [10]. Several scientists have carried out related studies for power-law non-Newtonian fluids Chen [11] [12] [13]. Many studies were carried out on cylindrical geometry [14] [15] [16].…”

“…In this case, the electrical cable is directly related to the cause of the fire, i.e., an overload or mechanical damage to the cable. Joule heating has been extensively studied in several scientific papers, [7][8][9]. In addition to Joule heating, which is produced by the electrical cable due to its load current, electrical cables can be ignited by heat from other sources, from a thermal appliance.…”

“…They found that jet interaction in the impingement zone increased and the size of recirculating bubbles enlarged with the increase of Re. Hooshmand et al [24] numerically investigated the effects of magnetic fields on the variations of heat transfer and generation of entropy over an axisymmetric stretching plate structure. Zhao et al [25] theoretically examined the spread of shear-thinning and shear-thickening liquid jet over a horizontal plate, which indicated that highly viscous and strongly shear-thinning fluids difficultly spread, even compared with highly viscous and simultaneously highly shear-thickening fluids, which results from the interaction between the shear-thinning character and the overall viscosity of the fluid.…”
