“…Consistent with the conclusion reached by Aştı and Kıvanç (2003) who did not observe a significant relation between years of professional experience of nurses and their level of knowledge regarding drugs, our results did not demonstrate a marked association of professional experience with knowledge on medicines either. Similar to our findings, in the study of Boggs et al (1988), greater knowledge on medicines was observed with increased education level but professional experience did not seem to have an effect on the knowledge level. In a separate study which investigated the knowledge of nurses about drugs, it was found that particularly lack of knowledge on side effects of drugs was a major concern among nurses and in contrast to our findings, they found that the level of pharmacological knowledge was positively affected by experience (Ives et al, 1996).…”
