“…(Figure 1 here) After evaluating the 6 observational articles included in the present study, it was clear that 5 articles were cross-sectional (Geovanini et al, 2016;Kohno et al, 2017;Randby et al, 2012;Roca et al, 2015;Roca et al, 2013), and the other research work was performed using the cohort method (Shah et al, 2013). The final collected studies were published between 2012 and 2018.…”

“…The final collected studies were published between 2012 and 2018. Three of these works were conducted in the United States (Roca et al, 2015;Roca et al, 2013;Shah et al, 2013) and the other studies had taken place in Japan (Kohno et al, 2017), Brazil (Geovanini et al, 2016) and Norway (Randby et al, 2012). The samples in 2 studies were hospitalized patients (Kohno et al, 2017;Shah et al, 2013).…”

“…Several studies found higher troponin concentrations independently associated with AHI in untreated OSA patients free of CAD. 5,12,25 Geovanini et al 26 showed that OSA severity was independently associated with hs-TropT levels in patients with refractory angina. In contrast, no significant difference in troponin levels between moderate/severe and mild/no OSA was reported by Maeder et al 27 In this study, short-term CPAP also had no impact on troponin concentrations before and after sleep.…”

“…It is associated with somnolence and fatigue as mentioned, impaired cognitive function, deficit in sustained attention which may result in an increased motor vehicle accident risk [ 5 , 6 ] and is also a source of lost productivity in the workplace [ 7 ]. The Sleep Heart Health and other studies [ 8 ] have suggested that patients with OSA are at increased risk of cardiovascular disease, including hypertension [ 9 ], myocardial infarction, refractory angina [ 10 ], stroke [ 11 ] and even death. In addition, nocturnal cardiac arrhythmias [ 12 , 13 ] and mild-to-moderate pulmonary hypertension can be present in patients with OSA [ 14 ].…”
