“…HULL et al (1974 b) found that instilling a drop of prednisolone phosphate into a rabbit eye carrying a soft lens gave rise to the same concentration inside the eye after 4 h as that found in a normal eye, in accordance with the expectation above. On the contrary, AssEFF et al (1973) found that about three times more pilocarpine entered the eye from a soft contact lens than from the same amount of drug applied as a 5 III drop of 8% solution. One reason why the drop was less effective may be that the excess volume of fluid was blinked away before the drug had a chance to mix into the tear film.…”

“…Vehicle (10 or 25 % DMSO, respectively) was given simultaneously to the opposite eye in a similar manner. The doses were chosen to give 0n2 µ and 1 µ LAT-B concentrations, respectively, in the " 100 µl monkey AC (Erickson-Lamy et al, 1984), assuming 1 % penetration and no initial drug loss from the AC (Asseff et al, 1973 ;Harris, 1968 ;Janes and Stiles, 1959). The perfusion system remained closed for 2 hr, after which facility measurements were taken for 90 min.…”

“…Disponible depuis 1877, la pilocarpine est utilisée en collyre, en solution aqueuse de chlorhydrate ou plus fréquemment de nitrate, aux concentrations de 1 et de 2 % (Béchetoile 1997) à raison de deux instillations par jour. Seulement 3 % du principe actif traversent la cornée (Asseff et al 1973). La pression intra-oculaire peut baisser de 30 % dans les six heures après l'instillation.…”
