Main goal of the paper was to present the functioning of LAG Krasnik area as an example of rural areas activation in EU country - Poland. The operation of the LAG carrying out its activity in the area of one of the poorest regions of the European Union, the Lubelski Region, includes the Kraśnik district. The method used in the paper is a diagnostic survey using a questionnaire and interviews. The survey encompassed 96 members of the LAG. In their opinion LAG contributed to the development of non-agricultural activities and promotion of the area as well as reduction in unemployment. Outstanding natural features and landscapes as well as existing investment infrastructure were considered crucial qualities of the area and support for the local activity was thought to be the main goal of the LAG. Strategy of the LAG contributed to development of the region and to switching towards non-agricultural activities what was its core premise.
