On-Column Preconcentration of Anti-Inflammatory Drugs in River Water by Anion-Selective Exhaustive Injection-Sweeping-MEKC

Abstract: A high-sensitivity on-column preconcentration method, anion selective exhaustive injection (ASEI)-sweeping in micellar electrokinetic capillary chromatography (MEKC) has been developed for the analysis of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): diclofenac sodium, ibuprofen, fenoprofen, naproxen, and ketoprofen in water samples. To achieve the best results of the ASEIsweeping-MEKC method, conditions which affected preconcentration were examined, including the sodium dodecyl sulfate concentration, compos… Show more

“…An off‐line SPE step was also required to minimize the influence of the matrix. Only one contribution to ASEI‐sweeping in MEKC‐based determinations was reported in the reviewed period, namely: the determination of nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (diclofenac sodium, ibuprofen, fenoprofen, naproxen, ketoprofen) in river water with direct injection of the sample . Under optimal conditions, the enrichment factors achieved for these five drugs with no sample pretreatment fell in the range 162–260, and LODs in the 29–58 ng/mL range.…”

“…Popularly used was CSEI‐sweeping . Other sequential stacking techniques employed were anion‐selective exhaustive injection (ASEI)‐sweeping , dynamic pH junction‐sweeping , LVSS‐sweeping , t‐ITP‐sweeping , sweeping‐MSS . The use of triple stacking was also reported such as chitosan sweeping‐reversed field stacking‐FASS , and FASS‐pH junction‐sweeping .…”

“…Sweeping techniques have been demonstrated for the analysis of hydrophobic compounds , multiple abused drugs , aromatic amines , morphine and its four metabolites , tobacco‐specific N ‐nitrosamines , voriconazole , and so on. Furthermore, Maijó et al developed anion selective exhaustive injection‐sweeping in MEKC for the analysis of nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).…”

“…Another procedure combining FESI with sweeping is called selective exhaustive injection‐sweeping. The optimization of different parameters such as SDS concentration, sample matrix composition, water plug, high‐conductivity buffer (HCB) plug, and sample injection time was performed . So far, the innovation of sweeping technique mainly lies in the exploration of new pseudo‐stationary phases.…”
