On the quality of type 1 magnetic contrast obtained in the scanning electron microscope

Abstract: Based on a simple model, an attempt is made to obtain estimates of the resolution of the scanning electron microscope when used to image stripe and bubble domain structures. The theoretical analysis covers specimen characteristics, instrumental operating conditions (including the use of an aperture over the electron collector), contrast, and signal‐to‐noise considerations.
