On the way to a patient table integrated scanner system in magnetic particle imaging

Abstract: Magnetic Particle Imaging is capable of three-dimensional real-time imaging. Due to high spatial and temporal resolution, the method offers a great potential to be used in interventional scenarios. In this contribution, a design study integrating a single-sided coil assembly into a patient table is presented. An elliptical and an approximated elliptical coil topology are compared and proposed as alternatives to the commonly used circular shaped coils. Through this, the size of the field of view can be extended… Show more

“…It is to support the maximum level of current to be supplied to the excitation coil at KHz level frequency with least impedance loss in the system and MNPs can be excited maximally from the excitation coil. The bulkiness and connection to extra electronic components should be avoided so that the simplest single-sided MPI scanner can be developed and used for the scanning of the complex human body surface [19][20][21][22][23][24].…”

“…Besides optimization of the MNPs, a lot of research is centered on improving the sensitivity and efficiency by proposing new drive-field (DF) and focus-field coil topologies, like the field-free-line coils, elliptical coils, or traveling wave coils [3-6]. In combination with harmonic-space MPI the receive chain often contains a high-order and low-loss band-stop filter (BSF) to suppress the drive field signal component in the receive signal and avoid saturation of the amplifier or the analog-to-digital conversion [7].…”
